The below statement from a grain terminal brings home the importance of good quality grain.
Grain Quality Reminder:
Many parts of the country have suffered with late harvest, a wet harvest, and light test weights. In general the quality in our region has been pretty good with exception to some field damage corn and some early problems due to storage/handling equipment malfunctions. Take advantage of your existing sales to core bins and verify your quality. If you don’t have open sales and are not happy with current flat price levels, consider DP or basis contracts to give you an opportunity to core your bins. Keep the good quality that you have as the market will be reluctant to absorb quality problems later this spring and summer. There may not be homes for high damage at any level of monetary dock.
